Wie funktioniert's?
In der Wechselstube können geflüchtete Menschen, die von der diskriminierenden Bezahlkarte betroffen sind, Gutscheine von REWE, DM, Lidl, ALDI und tegut gegen Bargeld tauschen. Menschen ohne Bezahlkarte können die Aktion unterstützen, indem sie diese Gutscheine abnehmen. Neben der Wechselstube in der ada-Kantine gibt es weiterhin die Möglichkeit, in der Karl-Marx-Buchhandlung während der Öffnungszeiten Bargeld gegen Gutscheine zu tauschen. So entsteht ein Netzwerk praktischer Solidarität, das die bürokratische Entmündigung Geflüchteter durchbricht.
Die Initiative "Frankfurt sagt Nein zur Bezahlkarte" stellt sich gegen die Bezahlkarte und staatliche Diskriminierung – und für gleiche Rechte für alle Menschen, egal woher sie kommen! "Die diskriminierende Bezahlkarte ist ein Instrument der Kontrolle und des Misstrauens gegenüber Geflüchteten. Mit der Wechselstube schaffen wir – wie schon unzählige andere Gruppen deutschlandweit – eine solidarische Gegenstruktur: gelebte Solidarität, gegenseitige Unterstützung und die gemeinsame Forderung, dass alle Menschen das Recht haben, frei über ihr Geld zu verfügen!"

On 6 February 2026 at 5 p.m., the first "Wechselstube"/voucher exchange of the initiative "Frankfurt says no to the payment card" will open its doors.
In the ada canteen in Bockenheim, refugees whose cash is severely limited by the payment card can now regularly exchange vouchers for cash. This is intended to support refugees in their everyday lives and prevent them from being restricted in their self-determination by the payment card.
How does it work?
At the exchange office, people affected by the discriminatory payment card can exchange vouchers from REWE, DM, Lidl, ALDI and tegut for cash. People without a payment card can support the campaign by purchasing these vouchers. In addition to the exchange office in the ada canteen, it is also possible to exchange cash for vouchers at the Karl Marx bookshop during the opening hours.
This creates a network of practical solidarity that breaks through the bureaucratic disenfranchisement of refugees. The discriminatory payment card is an instrument of control and mistrust towards refugees.
With the voucher exchange, we are creating – as countless other groups throughout Germany have done – a counter-structure based on solidarity: solidarity in action, mutual support and the common demand that all people have the right to freely dispose of their money!
The initiative "Frankfurt says no to payment cards" opposes payment cards and state discrimination – and advocates equal rights for all people, regardless of where they come from!
